A four week consultation has been launched by the Home Office on plans to allow Licensed Premises to open on the nights of Friday the 18th May and Saturday the 19th May until 1am.

The Home Secretary Amber Rudd indicated “ The Royal wedding will be a time of national celebration and we want everyone to be able to make the most of such an historic occasion.”

Licensing hours have previously been extended for Prince Williams Wedding and the Queens 90th Birthday.

If adopted, it is hoped the extended hours could boost the pub trade by almost 10million pounds. Bridgid Simmons chief executive of the British Beer and Pub Association added “ Visitors see the Great British pub as a cultural icon, almost as much as the Royal Family”

You can view a copy of the consultation document here: 'Consultation: RELAXATION OF LICENSING HOURS FOR THE ROYAL WEDDING'.

The consultation period ends at 11:45pm on the 4th February 2018. You can respond directly online  or by email at alcoholteam2@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk. We will keep you informed as to the outcome.

If you wish to consider extending your hours for any special event by Temporary Event Notice or to amend your premises licence permanently by variation, our dedicated team is on hand to advise you on 0114 266 8664.
